Silvered bronze medal ("bronze" and cornucopia struck on lower edge) 4.8x6.8 cm, female figure (doubtless the nymph Euresis) shows cabinet of inventions to students and faculty with motto "Principia invenit - describit machinas - artes demonstrat - docet omnes"(discovers principles, sets out devices, shows how the arts are used, teaches everyone), signature A. Patey in upper left corner on obverse, reverse with legend "Conservatoire National des Arts et Métier" and aerial view of the school. Originally a commemorative medal for the hundredth anniversary of the school's existence (http://numismatics.org/collection/1940.100.2434, viewable at http://mismuseos.net/comunidad/museos/recurso/Medalla-conmemorativa-del-centenario-del-Conservat/55e40c74-433e-4620-a83e-e1006fe223db on 10th February 2014 and also on this site, search "Patey"), the reverse was later adapted by addition of a name panel. This medal was awarded to G. Roussel (conceivably Gaston Roussel (1877 - 1947), founder of Laboratoires Roussel) and is dated 1930-1931 for participation in public classes.
