Christophe Plantin (1514-89), famous printer in the 16th century in Antwerp. Famous for his editions of the Bible and of the classics. His printing office is well preserved and is now a fascinating museum in Antwerp. His motto was"Labore et Constantia" (Work & Constancy) symbolised by the two legs of the drawing compass, here shown against a view of Antwerp's cathedral and harbour. The text reads "Enfants, tenez toujours paix, amour et concorde ensemble" (Children keep always peace, love and concord together).
