JAB-07 LARGE STAR CONFEDERATIO CENT - Silver Two struck in Silver Dies cut in 1863 Bolen sold the dies to Edwards, who may have struck additional copies. In addition to striking a number of mules, Edwards struck examples that he sold as genuine. After his death, the dies passed to Edward Cogan and back to Bolen. The dies are currently unaccounted for and were probably destroyed by Bolen, to insure that additional copies were never struck. The example pictured sold for $2640 in a Heritage November 2018 auction, lot 15018. Earlier, two examples sold in a May 2006 Stacks auction for $8050, lots 563 and 564.
