SOM#107, Joseph DiLorenzo, Camelot - Excalibur, 1983

Numbers Issued: 750 Bronze

FROM THE ARTIST

The legend of King Arthur has stirred the imagination of people everywhere for centuries. Romance, knighthood, chivalry and adventure are all part of the tales of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

Legend has it that embedded in a block of stone, with anvil of steel, was a sword "EXCALIBER." At the base of the stone in gold lettering were the words, "who so pulleth out this sword of this stone and anvil, is right wise king born of all England." Many noblemen came and tried, but none succeeded until Arthur drew out the sword with ease, and thus became King of all England. Arthur kept many castles, but Camelot was his principal court, owing to the presence of the Round Table.
