JAB-22 Massachusetts Historical Medal Silver
28mm - 2 struck by Bolen

The dies were cut in 1866 and sold to Kline. The obverse die recently appeared in a Sept. 2010 stacks auction, lot 6249.

Although Kline may have issued an unknown number of restrikes, Silver examples are still very rare. The piece pictured was acquired in the Stacks-Bowers February 2014 of the Musante Collection and is the only example I have ever seen offered for sale. It may be the only example available to collectors. It is also thick, indicating it was struck by Bolen and is not a Kline restrike. The second silver example is in the ANS collection.
