This French  Medal was awarded to those Allied troops that helped liberate the City of Belfort in 1944. What makes this RARE is that is actually ASSIGNED – to a Corporal Raymond Deraedt

ENGRAVER : Georges Crouzat (1904-1976) – French sculptor and medalist. Pupil of Landowski and Dropsy. Studied at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts (School of Fine Arts) in Paris. Lesser known, accomplished works for both Monnaie de Paris and local mints. Several of his pieces can be seen in the ‘Collection générale de la Monnaie’ at the Paris Mint, and a greater selection at the Musée de Castres, the city of Crouzat’s birth.
