Dies cut in 1881. They were sold for $2530 in the January 2011 Stacks auction of the Q.D. Bowers collection.

The Pynchon House was built in 1660 by Major John Pynchon, son of the city's founder. It earned the name "The Old Fort" when the town's residents took refuge inside from an Indian attack. It's sturdy brick walls provided protection when all the other wooden dwellings in town were destroyed by fire. Bolen's medal commemorates the 50th anniversary of the demolition of the building.

A Choice Uncirculated example sold for $1763 in the August 2017 Stacks sale, lot 65.   Hayden sold a MS-65 piece for $1200 in December of 2017.  This piece, graded NGC-64. brought $408 in the March 2020 sale at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
